Given that the be quiet! Pure Rock LP is a low-profile cooling solution, we clearly didn’t expect it to romp to the top of our performance charts. This is, after all, going up against high-performance, and significantly larger, air and AIO liquid coolers. Despite this, however, the Pure Rock LP performed massively in excess of our expectations for what is, ultimately, such a small package.
In terms of temperature control, I don’t think it will surprise you to see that it didn’t (on the surface of things) appear to do particularly well. When you take a closer look at the figures, however, the scores provided are more than acceptable, and outright impressive, for such a small cooling solution. In fact, they’re shockingly good given that at load the Pure Rock LP only hits 1-3C higher than many substantially larger cooling solutions.
The key highlight, however, undoubtedly goes to the acoustics. The be quiet! Pure Rock LP is quite possibly the quietest CPU cooler I’ve ever encountered. Yep, that fan might be capable of 2,500rpm, but at many instances during idle it was, and I can’t stress this enough, barely audible. I had to actually check at points that the fan was running it was that quiet!
Admittedly, limitations undoubtedly creep into the design when overclocking comes into the equation, but for a compact CPU cooler, the be quiet! Pure Rock LP isn’t just impressive in terms of temperature control (based on its overall size), but it’s absolutely mindblowing how practically silently it runs!
