be quiet! SFX L Power 500w Gold Power Supply Review

A Look Inside
Power supplies designed for compact systems can often be a bit of a mess on the inside. A power supply is generally quite a large piece of equipment and as such, it can be hard to get this in a way that it, at the very least, presentable. In this regard though, be quiet! have not had a problem.
All components within the power supply have been very neatly arranged. Despite the small design as well, they have also been able to get a decent amount of room between them as well. This is always good for airflow and keeping temperatures down.
As this is a be quiet! product, the fan is clearly going to be nice an important factor. What we can see is that it is manufactured by Globe Fan and it does carry the more modern fluid dynamic bearing design. This is all good as the design is specifically made for quieter operation.
Although the product is marketed as having Japanese capacitors, they have worded this rather carefully. I shall quote it here -“high-quality Japanese capacitors”. This, to me, suggests that while the be quiet! SFX L Power may indeed have Japenese capacitors, it may not necessarily be 100%. As such, we went in for a closer look.
Unfortunately, it is somewhat inconclusive. The main capacitor is pretty well sandwiched in the design. Too well, in fact, to allow me to read it, let alone get a good picture. As such, we have to take a little bit of artistic license here.
While the main capacitor does appear to be Japanese, we could not categorically confirm this. We could neither place our hand on the bible and say that all the capacitors are definitely Japanese. It’s simply all a bit too tight inside to know for certain.
