be quiet! Silent Loop 3 420mm AIO CPU Cooler Review

A Closer Look

In the box, you’ll find three 140mm fans which are branded “Silent Loop 3” fans as they come with this cooler. However, we know that they’re Silent Wings 4 fans, and put simply, we know these to be some of the absolute best fans on the market today. They’re powerful, feature a premium motor design, and can move big airflow with remarkably low noise levels; only downside is a single fan can cost around £23 each buying them on their own.

The fans are very durable, with robust frames, anti-vibration mounts on all the corners, and hard-wired PWM cables.

There’s no fancy RGB lighting here, no modular daisy-chain cables or any other novelties. Put simply, these fans are designed with one major priority; their excellent performance.

The actual radiator doesn’t look anything crazy, if you’ve seen one AIO you’ve seen this one. The radiator is 420mm long and 140mm wide and can support the mounting of 3 x 140mm fans on either side for push or pull configurations.

The pump is nice and compact, with a thicker design, but it doesn’t overhang the area of the CPU block much at all, so it’s unlikely to conflict with motherboard components.

The fins design looks like a heatsink of sorts on the top, but really it’s just to add some interesting aesthetics to the RGB; I’ll show you that in a moment.

It’s such a simple design, with two screw mounts pre-fitted on the sides, it’ll simply screw down to the motherboard bracket, making it very easy to install.

Now onto the CPU contact plate, which is… odd. It’s a rectangle, and I’ve never really seen this before, as most CPU blocks take up all the bottom of the pump, but clearly be quite! think they’re onto something else here.

If you actually look at many modern CPUs though, such as the latest Intel CPUs, or AMD, the actual bit you want to cool isn’t a square or a circle, it’s a rectangle, so this might be the better option after all.

Another nice thing is how clean the surface is, it’s exceptionally smooth to the touch, but rather than having a mirror finish, it has an almost matte look to it.

Altogether, it’s really nothing surprising here, and while there is RGB on the pump, be quiet! focus on performance over anything else. I do love that everything from the cables and headers to the fan mounts are all black though, it’s very stealthy.
