Benchmarks Claim Newly Revised Nvidia 3060 Ti GDDR6X Easily Beats the 3070!

Following Nvidia’s confirmation of its newly revised 3060 Ti graphics card (which now features a larger memory bus and GDDR6X memory), while this certainly sounds good in theory, it was still something of a moderate mystery as to how much better this improved hardware would actually make the GPU. Specifically, when compared to the original base 3060 Ti model. – And in this regard, even with Nvidia’s official confirmation, they didn’t go as far (yet) as to confirm any actual uplift figures.

Following a Twitter post by Galax, however, they have. And judging by the numbers, it looks like the new 3060 Ti will even have the beating of the 3070! – A GPU which, incidentally, costs around £100 more!

Nvidia 3060 Ti GDDR6X > 3070?

While the gap in some of the showcased titles is admittedly quite narrow, the overall consensus is, at least based on these figures from GALAX, that the new 3060 Ti is actually a better and faster graphics card than the 3070. – And this might actually make some sense as while Nvidia has revised the 3060, 3060 Ti, and possibly the 3070 Ti at some point in the future, the 3070 has always been notably absent from the rumour mill.

And if the 3060 Ti GDDR6X now beats the 3070… Well, why bother revising it at all? Do you make the 3070 better than the 3070 Ti? If so, where does the revised 3070 Ti go? Does that now have to beat a 3080? And if so, where does that leave the 3080? – You get the idea!

Touching back on the aforementioned pricing, however, Nvidia is still yet to confirm if this revised 3060 Ti will cost more than the £369 MSRP the original model had. If it does hold this value, however, then the 3070 does seem a fairly redundant choice for consumers now (Well, presuming these benchmarks are proven accurate). – This is, however, presuming that Nvidia releases Founders Edition models of this new 3060 Ti, and in this regard, they may actually prefer to let AIB partners handle this.

Suddenly though, this new 3060 Ti may seem like an incredibly tempting proposition for a late-in-the-day 30XX purchase. Again though, please Nvidia, for once do us consumers a favour and actually hold the price!
