BenQ has released the third monitor from their latest E-series family. This one however is called the EL2870U with a 28″ 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) Twisted-Nematic panel. Although TN panels are not nearly as vibrant color-wise as IPS panels, they offer great response times and the EL2870U is now exception with its 1ms. It also supports AMD’s FreeSync functionality and has low-blue light as well as flicker-free technology.
Like previous E-series monitors, it aims to be a great value-buy while offering plenty of extras. BenQ for example advertises the display as supporting HDR10. They even include a premium high-speed HDMI cable for use with HDR content. Although the monitor’s 300 nits (cd/m2) is note nearly quite close to the 400 nits minimum for VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.
It has a pair of HDMI 2.0, and one DisplayPort 1.4 port for connectivity in the rear. The display also has a 2x2W speakers built-in, plus an audio jack for headphones.
The BenQ EL287OU Monitor is now available worldwide or directly from BenQ for $499 USD.
