BenQ’s huge RP840G ten-point multitouch, 84-inch, 4K UHD interactive display has started to ship now and it looks great. It is intended for use in conference rooms, classrooms, and similar situations, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want one of these for my living room.
The RP840G provides multiplatform compatibility with Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome OS, has multi-PC touch control via USB, and QCast software to share content easily from any PC or smart device. It also has hotkeys directly on the front of the bezel for easier overall operation.
The panel facilitates easy IT maintenance using BenQ’s Multiple Display Administrator (MDA) software that provides remote management over the LAN connection that includes offsite shutdown. The included DisplayNote teaching software enables audience members to collaborate and contribute to any presentation in real-time via their tablets or laptops.
“Our RP840G multitouch panel was designed to provide an incredible value proposition for today’s connected environments,” said Bob Wudeck, Associate Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at BenQ America Corp. “By providing 4K UHD resolution and 10 touch points across 84 inches, the panel allows for presenters to easily interact with any onscreen content. To further increase collaboration, the display lets users pair their handheld devices, bringing audience participation to an entirely new level.”
As an added bonus, BenQ has partnered with Omnivision to bundle the Omnitapps Showcase interactive software with the RP840G for free. Omnitapps Showcase is an entry-level, multitouch display software tool ideally suited for any location that requires the ability to communicate with users and customers in a highly intuitive and interactive manner.
Sadly no word on pricing on this monster of a monitor. I guess the BenQ RP840G is one of those things where you just don’t ask for a price.
