Bethesda Teases A Whole New Adventure for ESO 2022

Bethesda, and the team at Zenimax have just unleashed their first teaser for 2022’s content for The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). And I must admit, it looks like it’s going to be something pretty special! Firstly, it is just a teaser cinematic, but I love how great everything looks. There’s a lot of detail, and we can see a land design that’s clearly quite a departure from what we’ve seen so far. Actually, it looks like the Italian lakes to me. However, current guesses are all over the place, as Bethesda suggest it’s a never before seen land, but they didn’t say it would be one we haven’t heard of before (and I bet we have). I would think the High Isle, which would be North of Summerset Isles.

The PR blurb reads, “Get ready to explore new lands, uncover new dangers, and experience all-new stories in the “ever-growing world of The Elder Scrolls Online!” and of course, we won’t know more until the big reveal on Twitch at the end of the month.

A lot is going on in this video. Most notable are the ships. The eagle-eyed among you will notice each has its own design. One has blue, the other yellow and the other red, with sails shaped to match the game’s DC, AD and EP factions. However, they’re clearly NOT fighting each other here. Could an alliance be formed for this new content?

Word on the street, er, reddit comments, is a focus on a more political struggle rather than another world-ending big bad. At least, this is based on what the developers have hinted at in various conversations and live streams. That would certainly be a big win in my opinion and a breath of fresh air.

I wouldn’t be too surprised if there was something new for PVP players too, which has long been begging for a complete overhaul. Personally, I wish they’d get PVP into the Badlands, and give the PVE players a proper PVE Cyrodil, that would be sweet.

So a brand-new Elder Scrolls adventure is coming. Tune in to the ESO 2022 Global Reveal live on Twitch.tv/Bethesda on Thursday, January 27 at 3PM EST/9pm CET to get a first look at the upcoming Chapter and DLCs that make up this year’s exciting releases.
