The remastered BioShock trilogy – BioShock: The Collection – is out now, and the early Steam reviews are not good. These anecdotal reports suggest that the new versions of the games not only contain bugs that have been present since their original release but chucks in a whole load more, just for kicks.
Steam user Drakken writes:
“I was very excited to replay Bioshock and a remaster was just what we needed. I got highly disappointed when I noticed that it has the same bugs as the original version.
If they fixed the mouse problems (acceleration, sensitivity doesn’t work as it should, you can’t move the mouse in menus or hacking…) it would be wonderful.
Let’s hope they actually fix it this time, but we all know that the original game is still broken after 9 years…”
BINARYGOD adds:
“Issues that were present in the original release 9-ish years ago are still present now, including some that were at some point patched.
This is as lazy as PC porting gets, folks. Wait for a patch, or perhaps just pirate it or buy it used on console.
(9 years later and I STILL have to resort to editing INI files just so the mouse feels something closer to normal… wtf!?!)”
Some users also criticise the games for the quality of the remastering itself, with Cheesus reporting:
“This isn’t much of a remaster, its just a texture pack.”
The overall score for customer reviews for BioShock: The Collection is “Mixed,” with 372 negative reviews out of a total of 744, at the time of writing.
