Biostar has had an aggressive release schedule lately. However, these are not simply RGB-clad mainboards but rather affordable products for entry-level users. Their previous two announcements, the H110MDE and the B250MDC were Intel chipset boards. Now they are announcing the A68MDE, an entry-level motherboard for AMD FM2+ processors.
The Biostar A68MDE uses a micro-ATX form factor and only has a single PCIe x16 slot for discrete graphics. Not that it is a deal breaker since the A68 chipset is quite limited and is not capable of multi-GPU. There is another PCIe slot available for x1 devices. Just like the H110MDE, the A68MDE only has two DIMM slots for dual-channel RAM. However, up to 32GB of DDR3 is supported and can be cranked up to 2600MHz. Considering the current prices for DDR4, this is actually a good option for builders on a budget.
As for the inherent features of the budget board, it uses a Realtek RTL8111G for Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. It also uses a Realtek ALC662 6-channel HD audio codec with special audio capacitors for filtering.
The rear IO also provides IGP display connectors. This includes a DVI-D port and a VGA port for up to dual simultaneous 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz output. There are numerous USB ports available as well including two USB 3.1 Gen1 ports at the rear. Four more USB 2.0 ports are available via two 9-pin headers.
Just like the recently introduced Biostar Introduces the B250MDC motherboard, the A68MDE is very affordable at only $44.99.
