Final Thoughts

How Much Does it Cost?

Affordability is the key focus here, and the BIOSTAR B360GT5S can be picked up for as little as £100. Stock and availability aren’t great though, with only a few retailers having any in stock. Furthermore, they’re not what I would call my prefered retailers, two of them I’ve never heard of. I know BIOSTAR are pushing bigger in the UK market, so perhaps that’ll improve soon enough. But I digress, for a £100, you get a robust amount of features here for around £50 less than some cheaper Z370 motherboards.

Overview

I really like this motherboard, or at least I can’t find anything wrong with it. It’s not a very exciting product, so it’s not like I’m singing about it from the roof tops. However, BIOSTAR has made a conscious effort to create something with their own unique spin. A cheaper motherboard is easy, but making an appealing one is even harder. The inclusion of some RGB lighting and headers is certainly welcome to many, I’m sure. Things they didn’t need to add at this price range, but did anyway, help too. Of course, I’m talking about the lovely quality M.2 cooling heatsink, as well as the armoured PCIe slot. These add big value to the motherboard overall.

Performance

As I said before, when you look at our charts, this motherboard is pretty average. It sits in the middle of the charts, but charts that are full of a lot of premium solutions. The performance figures are rock solid though and have the other B360 motherboards we’ve tested a fair battle. Did it come out on top, middle or bottom of the other B360 solutions? Yes, yes and yes. They performed pretty similarly, with trading blows from benchmark to benchmark. For a non-overclocking motherboard though, the gaming and daily performance were right on the money.

Connectivity

With three display outputs on the back, hooking up to a monitor with your iGPU is going to be a breeze. Furthermore, there are good USB options on the back, especially thanks to the Type-C port. The motherboard will support a fair amount of storage too, with 6x SATA ports. However, if you want something fast, the M.2 mount is perfect, and there are 1x PCIe slots suitable for PCIe SSD mounts.

Should I Buy One?

I can’t think of any reason not to. Well, unless you’re dead set on overclocking, in which case you’ll want to look at higher models such as Z370. For around £100, you do get a lot of features and a pretty tidy looking motherboard. For low to mid-budget work and gaming PCs, the GT5S is a solid all-around solution.
