BIOSTAR RACING Z270GT4 LGA1151 Motherboard Review

BIOSTAR RACING Z270GT4

If you’re planning on building a compact gaming system, then you’re going to need a compact motherboard. While Mini-ITX does have some advantages in being very small, it can be a little bit restrictive. The next step then is obviously Micro-ATX. The BIOSTAR Racing Z270GT4 mATX motherboard comes packed full of features that are sure to please any system builder. Of course, with mATX you get a compact board, but also room for a dual-GPU configuration, or other PCIe devices such as M.2 NMVe storage that you may not get on smaller mini-ITX motherboards. Not everyone needs or wants a huge tower chassis, so this is a nice middle ground.

Equipped with support for 7th Gen Intel CPUs, 4 x DDR4 DIMMS, U.2, M.2, Typc-C and much more, it’s certainly well rounded in terms of connectivity. Of course, you’ll also find Hi-Fi audio, Optane support, and plenty of overclocking features, to ensure you get a good overall experience from your system.

“BIOSTAR is proud to introduce the flagship of the new RACING series: RACING Z270GT4 motherboard. Flaunting the new Super 5 Design Concept, the BIOSTAR RACING Z270GT4 features support for the latest Intel 7th generation Core processors featuring the Intel Z270 chipset. The board supports up to four DDR4 memory modules of speeds up to DDR4-3200(OC) with capacities of up to 64GB.” – BIOSTAR

Bios, RGB, and More

Unfortunatley, the motherboard does feature their usual BIOS, which is a bit of a mess. Everything is there, but it doesn’t follow the user friendly layout many of you will be familiar with. There are plenty of overclocking features in there, but you might find yourself on forums to figure out where they are. You can also contro lthe RGB lighting from the motherboard BIOS or desktop software, which is nice, giving you some added customisation.
