The GT6 is certainly unique in terms of design. As you can see, it blends a glossy black PCB with golden/yellow stripes that make it look like someone stamped it out of a wasp. It’s certainly not going to be to everyone’s taste. However, I think it’s a welcome break from the more common black and red motherboards we see almost daily.
Surrounding the CPU, you’ll find a few chokes and some fairly robust cooling hardware. Of course, this should help keep the motherboard temperatures in check while overclocking. It’s not a crazy high-end overclocking motherboard, but it’ll still deliver what most high-end gaming systems require.
If you’re installing a pair of high-end graphics card, you’ll be happy to see two armoured slots. The armour not only looks great but also helps the motherboard sustain the weight of heavy expansion cards.
There are four DIMM slots on offer, which look pretty standard and armouring these would have matched well with the PCIe slots. However, things I am happy to see include the BIOS Debug LED, onboard power controls, and a few RGBW pin headers. There are six SATA ports, however, they’re all mounted straight up, which looks stupid and it’s going to play bloody hell with cable routing.
The motherboard comes with dual BIOS, removable BIOS chips, and a simple two-way switch to flick between them. Having this feature is certainly welcome, especially when things go to heck after a failed overclocking attempt.
There are two M.2 mounts on this motherboard, one above the top PCIe lane, the other at the bottom. However, this bottom one comes with a durable and rather large M.2 cooling cover. Of course, it looks great, but should also help improve drive performance.
There are a few gold capacitors on the board, separated by a trace on the motherboard, as well as a built-in DAC. Also, if you look closely, you’ll see a bank of LED lights down this side of the motherboard.
The rear I/O is pretty empty, but all the basics are covered. As you can see, there are some 7 USB ports (2 x USB 2, 4 x USB 3, 1 x Type C), HD Audio jacks, 1 Gbps LAN, and a PS2 connector. There are two display output too, should you need them.
