More options have been added for those who want to buy AMD’s latest Radeon RX 580, RX 570 and RX 550 video cards. This time, it is from mainboard manufacturer Biostar who has added the new Polaris refresh GPUs options to their Gaming product lineup.
They have a reference design Radeon RX 580 with 8GB of memory running at 8000MHz effective clock rate as well as reference base and boost clocks of 1256 MHz and 1340Hz. A reference design RX 570 4GB with 7000MHz effective memory clocks and 1168/1244 MHz base/boost clocks is also available. Both reference design units are cooled with a single blower-style fan that exhausts exclusively at the rear.
Aside from the reference RX 580 and RX 570 graphics cards, Biostar also has a custom design video card from their stable using the RX 570 Polaris 20 XL GPU and 4GB memory configuration called the Biostar Radeon RX 570 Avenger. Instead of using the single blower-style fan, it has two 90mm fans on a custom shroud that exhausts heat from all sides of the card as it blows down on a custom dual-heatpipe heatsink. It operates much more silently than the reference design fan while conforming with a dual-slot height clearance. Other than the custom cooler however, it also sports reference clock speeds out of the box set at 1168MHz base that boosts up to 1244 MHz.
Biostar also has a custom cooler RX 550 for the entry level gamers. It has a single 90mm fan fan at the center that exhaust air to the front and back of the card. It is also very compact and ideal for many SFF systems. The Biostar Radeon RX 550 is available in either 4GB or 2GB memory configurations with a total memory bandwidth of 7Gbps and reference core clock of 1183MHz. Unlike the RX 580 and RX 570 graphics card, this RX 550 is powered completely via the PCIe bus and requires no additional PSU power connectors.
