AM4 has landed and the latest chips from AMD have certainly left us impressed. However, there’s one bothersome issue with this Ryzen launch so far, and that’s the lack of mini-ITX motherboards!
The good news is that BIOSTAR has just introduced one of the first AMD X370 chipset based motherboards, featuring the AM4 socket, and that’s going to make it perfect for those eager to build a small form factor Ryzen gaming system!
The motherboard supports all current and upcoming AM4 platform processors, uses a 24-pin and 4-pin power connector, and delivers that through a 7-phase VRM, so there may be some good overclocking potential here too.
There’s room for two full-size DDR4 DIMMs, with support for up to 32GB of dual-channel DDR4-3200 memory. Of course, with mini-ITX there’s only a single PCI-e 3.0 16x slot.
Other cool features included 4 x SATA 6 Gb/s ports, a 32 Gb/s M.2-2280 slot with NVMe boot support. There are 2 x 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 ports, including a USB 3.1 Type-C port, 6 x USB 3.0 ports, on-board audio and gigabit Ethernet, and two display outputs; DVI and HDMI.
No price on the board just yet, or even a release date, but expect it to hit the market very soon at around $150.
