Price
The BitFenix Aurora is available from Overclockers UK for a rather fantastic price of £86.99, which is honestly about £20 less than I would have expected. There are two models available, a black and white variant, both the same price and both come with dual tempered glass side panel windows and the funky RGB SSD kit.
Overview
This chassis isn’t perfect, and in all fairness, I think the price is reflective of that fact. With a few tweaks in materials and interior design and I think this chassis could easily be worth double what they’re asking, but that’s not really the point, as more expensive puts it into enthusiast territory and it’s about time the general consumer got their shot at owning great looking chassis with tempered glass side panels on them, something that has long been the plaything of the crazy expensive flagship cases on the market.
A few minor flaws on this chassis do standout, however, such as the fairly small or awkwardly placed cable routing holes, they’re not bad, but some improvements could be made. A PSU shroud would be ideal, they’re not needed, but on a glass chassis where a lot is on show it can really help the build. Finally, the dust filters aren’t anything to write home about either, as they’re fixed mesh in the panels and they can be a bother to clean well compared to slide out filters than you can easily maintain. In a lot of ways, these minor things stand out as budget cutbacks, the aim was to keep the cost down and it certainly worked, as getting change from £90 for a chassis that has two huge glass side panels, as well as a unique RGB lighting system built-in, makes the Aurora a strong contender for those planning to update their system or build a new one.
Build quality is pretty decent, obviously a large chunks of plastic on the front and top that aren’t crazy strong, but they’re aesthetically pleasing and BitFenix has always had some of the nicest texture and paint finishes when it comes to their plastic panels; that sounds like a weak praise, but it’s something I think they can be proud of. With plenty of storage bays, decent cable routing space, room for a few radiators, and a stylish design, it’s certainly worth your consideration for your next chassis.
