Price
At the time of writing the Flo was only available at one retailer in Europe, but that will change very shortly as retailers such as OCUK, Scan, CCL and no doubt many others get stock. It is available from Caseking.de for just 59,99 Euro and that roughly translates to around £50 here in the UK and $80 in the US. This isn’t the most competitive price tag ever, but for this level of build quality, a trusted brand and high quality cables, I think it is excellent value for money.
Overview
I’m really impressed with what BitFenix have archived here, it’s nothing ground breaking overall, but the sound quality and build quality speak for themselves. The design does remind me of two other popular headsets, such as the Zowie Hammer and the SteelSeries Siberia V2, but that is no bad thing as they’re all great looking headsets. BitFenix needed something that makes them stand out from the crowd and their SofTouch finish is certainly one of those things, it gives a slick look and feel to the headset that really makes the colours pop out and it’s also incredibly durable. This is complimented by premium quality cables and a sturdy microphone that really add to the overall value. It’s a cool looking headset from a cool looking brand at a price tag that doesn’t make your wallet run away screaming, what’s’ not to love about that!
Having the right peripherals at your disposal can make or break your computer experience. Just like a good quality keyboard and mouse can improve your work and gaming time, so too can a great headset. This isn’t one of the best headsets I’ve ever tested, but it’s easily one of the best within this price range. It’s highly versatile to the point where it should appeal to people who love to game, as much as it should to people who just want to use it for listening to YouTube videos and chatting on Skype. The added benefit that you can remove the microphone and use them as a pair of high quality headphones for your smart phone or MP3 player is a big win, and the durable design means you won’t be worried to throw them in your back pack when your out and about.
Pros
- Great build quality
- Crystal clear sound quality
- Detachable microphone
- Stylish
- High quality cables
- In-Line controller
- Competitive price
Cons
- Microphone is sturdy, but is rather bulky looking (hardly a deal breaker).
“The Flo is a welcome entry to the market, it’s nothing new in terms of performance or features, but the build quality and design really stand out from the crowd in this price range.”
Thank you BitFenix for providing us with this sample.
