Overall I really like what BitFenix has done in terms of design on the Ghost, while at first glance the chassis appeared fairly featureless and if I’m honest, a little boring, that really isn’t the case. The front panel is well designed and the dual hinge design is interesting, if a little pointless. The air filter design allows for some of the easiest access I’ve seen on a chassis, plus the mesh finish fits nicely with the overall style of the rest of the chassis.
Other little features that stood out for me were thing like the space left to mount Alchemy lighting strips on the underside of the chassis, 240mm radiator support on the top panel and the very handy hot-swap hard drive dock, not only can you use it for quick access to a hard drive, but its perfect for storing excess peripherals.
Our test components looked fantastic once this build was complete, the cable management did a fantastic job and it’s easily one of the cleanest looking builds we have done. It’s a shame this goes unseen though, as the Ghost doesn’t feature a side panel window, although there is good reason for that. The side panels are lined with sound proofing material, combine that with the good quality pre-installed fans and the space left to add a cooling radiator and it’s clear this system isn’t about over the top visual style. Sure it has optional underside lighting, but it gives a more subtle look compared to lighting the entire interior of the chassis. Although I do think our Spectre fans looks great in this chassis with their red LED lights.
The Ghost is priced around £75.00 (at time of writing) which isn’t particularly cheap, but BitFenix has gone a long way to make sure you get a quality product, it’s full of little touches and details that really make it stand out from the crowd. Offering premium cooling capabilities, decent quality soundproofing, stylish lighting features, a high quality finish thanks to their NanoChrome surface treatment and plenty of room to install a robust multi-GPU gaming system.
I’m more than happy to award the Ghost with our Editors Choice award, following in the footsteps of the Prodigy chassis was never going to be easy but it seems BitFenix have once again out done them selves in terms of design and functionality.
