BitFenix Shadow Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Exterior

The chassis features a fairly understated look, with the main panels finished in powder black and the front panel with SofTouch, giving it a nice stealthy look. The left side panel is just a flat black panel, held in place by a pair of thumb screws for easy access.

The right side panel is the same design as the left; another plain black panel.

The front panel features a large SofTouch coated door with a shiny BitFenix logo and a few extra ventilation slots near the base.

Behind the door panel you’ll find three 5.25″ ventilated drive bay covers and a large removable dust filter panel.

There’s a single 120mm fan pre-installed in the Shadow, but easily room for another should you need it; the filter is pretty durable and can be easily removed for cleaning.

Around the back of the chassis is a 120/92/80mm fan mount with a 120m fan pre-installed and below that are some pop-out metal covers for water/cable routing holes. There are 7 expansion slot covers and each come fitted with a reusable ventilated cover.

The top of the front panel features the usual audio and USB connectivity options, but you’ll also find controls for the integrated chassis lighting; as well as the power and reset switch.

There’s extra ventilation on the bottom of the chassis for the PSU air intake and a 120mm fan mount; there are dust filters on the interior of the chassis. Four large rubber feet provide extra ground clearance and extra grip for those putting the chassis on a hard surface, and if you look extra close you can see six red/blue LED lights fitted behind a semi-clear panel towards the front of the chassis.
