BitFenix Shogun Tempered Glass Chassis Review

A Closer Look – Exterior

Straight away you can see this chassis has some real presence. It’s pretty freaking wide for a chassis of this size, but that extra width is going to be no bad thing, as it’ll allow a lot of room for big fans, additional cable routing and more inside. Down the left side, you’ll find a large tempered glass window, which should give you a great view of your hardware; even more so with LED lighting turned on.

The right side panel looks pretty much like the left. However, this panel is treated on the inside so while it looks like another window, it’s really more of a mirror, and just keeps the chassis looking symmetrical. One of my favourite features, however, is the vast amount of curved aluminium that sweeps around the front panel and the top of the chassis. It certainly looks and feels like a premium quality product.

There’s a comprehensive front panel built-in too, with four USB ports, as well as controls for the built-in lighting, power, and HD audio jacks. You’ll notice the curved roof covers the top panel, but there’s a large opening to allow airflow through to any top mounted cooling too.

Around the back, you can really see just how wide this chassis is! There’s fan mount at the top, with a pre-installed 120mm fan, although you can fit a 140mm fan if you desire. The elongated mounts also mean you can adjust the height of your fan/radiator to suit your needs. Below that, 7 x expansion slots, each with reusable metal covers. Finally, in the base, an ATX PSU mount with a slide-out dust filter for easy maintenance.

Finally, you’ll see that even the base of the chassis has a clean finish with thick aluminium panels. Again, like the top section, there’s ventilation at the front and back to allow airflow to pass under the chassis. The bonus is that a flat wide base with sturdy rubber grips will keep this chassis incredibly stable.
