Price
The BitFenix Shogun Mid-Tower Tempered Glass Gaming Chassis is available right now from Overclockers UK for £124.99. While that’s obviously a lot of money, I think it’s incredible value for money. There are a lot more expensive chassis with similar specifications on the market right now. If you’re building a multi-GPU water cooled extreme gaming rig, £124.99 on the chassis is likely the cheapest part of the build.
Overview
There’s no shortage of high-end gaming chassis on the market these days, and certainly no shortage of awesome ones. What it really boils down to these days is the aesthetics. Which one looks best to you, and will give you the desired look once complete? That’s obviously a very subjective thing, so having lots of choice in the market is a big help. That being said, I personally think this is one of the coolest looking chassis on the market right now. The vast amount of thick and curved aluminium really set it apart from the crowd. Of course, add two huge sheets of tempered glass, and RGB into the mix, and it’s easy to see this is a premium quality product.
Extreme Gaming Systems
When you’re building a high-end gaming system, space for your hardware is very important. Graphics cards are getting bigger than ever, and if you’re planning to use more than one, a big chassis like this is a huge benefit. Of course, the addition of those GPU brackets to prevent droop is also going to be beneficial to your build. There’s room for extensive amounts of water cooling or air cooling too. With radiator support in the front, top and rear, as well as more room for tubing. The extra width of the chassis is going to benefit those using larger air coolers, such as the Noctua NH-D15 series.
Cable Routing
It’s easy to get a clean looking build here. With loads of room behind the motherboard, cable routing cut-outs and grommets where you need them, stealth HDD mounts, and a deep recess for the PSU. You’re not going to need to be an expert at cable management to get an end result you can be proud of.
Pros
- Stunning aluminium exterior panels
- Tempered glass side panels
- RGB LED SSD mount
- Asus AURA Sync support
- Excellent cable routing/management
- 3 x 120mm fans pre-installed
- Competitively priced for spec/size/materials
- Ideal for high-end gaming builds and water cooling
Cons
- I would have liked to see 140mm fans included for the size of the chassis
Neutral
- It’s quite wide, but that’s also quite beneficial to the build process
“If you’re building an extreme performance custom-loop gaming PC, then Shogun is going to be the perfect building block. The tempered glass side panels and vast amounts of aluminium will create a fantastic display to show off your hardware.”
