BitTorrent users sued, a lot of them!

It appears that the 2009 Academy Award winning film The Hurt Locker was a hit, because more than 200,000 people are being sued for allegedly illegally downloading it, and according to TorrentFreak, most of them are BitTorrent users.
The U.S. has been overloaded with new cases, and the actual number of people being targeted currently stands at 201,828, with 1,237 accused of downloading it on the eD2K network.
Even though most of the cases aren’t going to trial, the defendants are proposed a settlement varying between a few hundred dollars and several thousands. The copyright holder are trying to collect the data from approximately 145,417 defendants who are still at risk, around 60,000 have already been settled, while 24,583 have been sued specifically by Voltage Pictures for the downloading of The Hurt Locker.
This could potentially be the biggest file-sharing lawsuit as of yet, although, fortunately to say the least, none of the actual cases have made it to trial. So if you’re interested in watching this movie, you know what to do (and not to do).
