The Ouya has almost fallen into obscurity, just as I suspected it would. There was a lot of hype last year about the wave of new android consoles, as if they were going to be the next big thing… but they weren’t. Ouya haven’t exactly failed of course, they’re still selling products and they’ve even revised their console recently with a few tweaks and improvements.
The new black matte variant comes equipped with double the amount of storage of the original, taking the total up to 16GB, making plenty of room for new releases in the app store. The new edition also comes with the revised controller, which features more texture on the thumbsticks, non-sticky action buttons and tighter triggers. All this is backed up by better Bluetooth and Wi-Fi performance.
So an extra 8GB of storage, better controller, improved WiFi and Bluetooth and a new colour scheme. All this will set you back $129.99, which is of course a little more than the original Ouya which is still available for $99.99, but currently the new one is only available in the US.
Thank you Ouya for providing us with this information.
