Developers Game Science have teased Black Myth: Wukong players by hinting at “some surprises” that could arrive between now and the end of the year, suggesting possible new content to tackle.
The game won Ultimate Game of the Year at The Golden Joystick Awards 2024. The award was accepted by game director Feng Ji, who said on stage at the ceremony, “Of course, you might have already completed Black Myth: Wukong. That’s perfectly fine too, keep following us, and there might just be some surprises waiting for you later this year.”
It cannot be ruled out that among the “surprises” there will also be the release date of the Xbox Series X|S version of Black Myth: Wukong. Scheduled to coincide with the PlayStation and PC versions, it had been postponed to a date to be determined, with Game Science speaking of a delay related to optimization. Meanwhile, Microsoft may have suggested a possible exclusivity agreement for PS5.
In any case, the game will sooner or later also arrive on the Xbox consoles. A potential launch by the end of the year or even just specific information on the publication timeline would certainly be a welcome Christmas gift for players.
However, Feng Ji’s words would seem to be directed more towards those who have already played or are playing Black Myth: Wukong, suggesting new free or paid content in the form of DLC. This possibility was also mentioned in the FAQ published months ago on the game’s official website, which states:
Black Myth: Wukong employs a classic one-time purchase model with a one-time payment. In the future, we may release DLCs and NON-PAY-TO-WIN in-game purchases.
In short, something is definitely cooking. Now, we just have to wait and see what “surprises” Game Science has in store for players.
