Black Myth: Wukong Update Adds PS5 Pro Support, Enhances Input Lag and Performance on PS5

Black Myth: Wukong‘s December update launched earlier today, introducing several new features, including support for the PS5 Pro and improvements for the base PS5.
For PS5 Pro users, the game now supports PlayStation’s proprietary Spectral Super Resolution upscaling technology (PSSR). While the patch notes don’t delve into specifics, they confirm that enabling this feature delivers a “high-definition visual experience” on the Quality and Balanced presets. We’ll need further testing to assess the extent of this upgrade and whether it results in a smoother or more stable framerate.
Performance Improvements for PS5 and PS5 Pro
The update also brings general performance improvements for both PS5 and PS5 Pro users. Notably, the game now supports 120Hz output for compatible displays, ensuring a stable 40fps when enabled.
Additionally, several cutscenes and boss battles have been optimized for improved performance, better framerate stability, and enhanced visual clarity on both the Quality and Balanced presets.
One of the most significant changes is a reduction in command input lag in Performance mode at 60 fps. However, more testing is needed to determine the full scope of these improvements, though they are certainly welcome.
This update also introduces a new Boss Rush mode, allowing players to face the game’s bosses in succession. Two variants are available: one classic and the other featuring different stats and new move sets. Additionally, the “Journeyers Chart” has been added, likely a map of explored areas, which was previously missing. For more details, refer to the official patch notes from the Game Science team.
