The much-anticipated action RPG Black Myth: Wukong has generated immense excitement since its reveal, particularly due to its stunning visuals and unique setting rooted in Chinese mythology. However, recent reports suggest that the game may not be coming to Xbox consoles anytime soon, leaving fans of the platform in uncertainty.
Despite its successful launch on PC and PlayStation 5, the availability of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox remains unclear. According to Forbes, when Microsoft was asked about the status of the Xbox port, a spokesperson provided a non-committal response, stating, “we can’t comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders.” This statement has done little to reassure Xbox players.
The situation contrasts with other titles, such as Baldur’s Gate 3, where developers were transparent about the progress of Xbox versions. In contrast, Game Science, the developer behind Black Myth: Wukong, has remained silent about the Xbox release, raising concerns that the platform may not be a priority.
One major issue affecting the Xbox release could be technical difficulties, particularly with the Xbox Series S. Reports suggest that even the PlayStation 5 version struggles with performance, dropping to as low as 720p to maintain 60FPS. Given these challenges, optimizing the game for the less powerful Xbox Series S could prove even more problematic.
The future of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox remains uncertain, with fans hoping for more concrete news soon. For now, it seems Xbox players will have to wait longer to experience this mythological journey.
