Blackberry and Bing buddy up

Steve Ballmer was at Blackberry World today, not something anyone expected. But you just knew that the CEO of Microsoft was there for a reason. Now we know; The emergence of a new partnership between the two corporations regarding the default Maps service for Blackberry users. Thats right laides and gentlemen, blackberry devices will employ Bing Maps Search Apps by default.

Speaking in regards to this announcement to attendees, Ballmer said that the Bing service will be deeply intergrated into the Blackberry platform. “We’re going to invest uniquely into the BlackBerry” he said at a keynote conference.

Microsoft look to be on a roll in terms of partnerships, with Windows Phone 7 getting tied up with Nokia (and the Bing search services will be rolled out across all of their phones too!) Also, Shortly after the Bing service actually went live, Microsoft and Yahoo announced a 10 year deal that would see Bing replacing Yahoo’s own in-house search engine!

More details of this unexpected partnership aren’t available yet, but Ballmer says we can expect some Blackberries with Bing in time for the holiday season.
