Blade Runner was considered a true masterpiece when it came out in the 1980s, and many still describe it at one of the most incredible sci-fi films ever made. Therefore, creating a sequel for such an acclaimed film is a difficult task, to say the least, as the result will be analyzed very carefully by critics and fans of the original film. Blade Runner 2 is indeed in the works, and some of its latest crew additions include Oscar-nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins. Harrison Ford will retain his iconic role as Rick Deckard, and it looks like Ryan Gosling will also star in the movie as an undisclosed character.
The production of Blade Runner 2 is set to kick off in summer 2016 with Denis Villeneuve as its director. This would make the film the third official collaboration between Deakins and Villeneuve, as they previously worked on Prisoner (2013) and Sicario (2015). Not a lot of information regarding the film’s plot is available at the time of writing, but we do know that the story will take place several decades after the events of the initial movie. The release date for Blade Runner 2 is still unknown right now, but we’ll keep you posted as we receive more information.
