Blade Runner is definitely one of the most appreciated science fiction films of the 1980s, and I do enjoy re-watching it from time to time. Starring Harrison Ford, the film’s plot takes place in Los Angeles in November 2019, and it tells the story of a special police operative named Rick Deckard, who agrees to hunt down a group of genetically engineered replicants. Many years after its original release, the movie is still enjoying quite a lot of attention, and someone even went ahead and recreated its neo-noir atmosphere using Unreal Engine 4.
Courtesy of a Polycount member named “Vulfy”, we can now feast our eyes on some amazing screenshots that show what a Blade Runner-inspired game would look like in Unreal Engine 4. Their creator also released a short video that highlights the project’s most important graphical features, and I have to admit that I’m impressed. This particular engine seems to be quite popular with 3D artists, as another Polycount member, Matt Billeci, used it to create a Red Dead Redemption-inspired saloon a few weeks ago.
