Blood and Wine Expansion for Witcher 3 Receives Its First Screenshots

As if The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt wasn’t large enough, CD Projekt RED has decided to treat Witcher fans with a series of expansions such as Hearts of Stone, which was released on October 13, 2015. Now, it appears that the game’s developers are working on the release of the second expansion called Blood and Wine, which should make its way to us during the first half of 2016. This expansion will offer about 20 hours of play time, and it will include a completely new region named Toussaint. Even though most of the original game had a war-like theme, at least as far as the environment was concerned, Blood and Wine will offer a welcomed distraction from the conflict as it will feature a rather peaceful ambiance. However, things are rarely as they seem in the Witcher universe, and the entire place probably conceals a very old and very bloody secret that Geralt will undoubtedly discover.
The Game Director over at CD PROJEKT RED, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, had a few words to say about the upcoming expansion:
“2015 is almost behind us. It’s a great year for open world games and a fantastic time for The Witcher. A year of intense work for the team and a time filled with many personal victories for everyone involved in a project that received more than 300 awards so far (wow!). We overcame so many obstacles to get to this point, and we’ve always done it with gamers rooting for us. It’s your year, too. Blood and Wine, the second expansion for The Witcher 3, is on the horizon. It’s a massive new land to explore, visually unlike anything you saw in Wild Hunt or Hearts of Stone, and it too is brimming with stories we want you to discover.”
The first screenshots of Blood and Wine have recently surfaced, and I have to admit that they look very impressive at a glance.
