April Fools was as crazy as ever, but some clever marketing boffin at BMW New Zealand decided to turn the tables on the traditional pranks, with their own reverse prank; they gave away a brand new BMW!
The news paper ad had prank written all over it, telling readers of the Herald news paper that if they took the news paper clipping into the dealership and asked for “Tom”, they could trade their old car (any car) for a brand new BMW. Of course, as you already know, they weren’t kidding around and when Tiaana Marsh from Auckland, New Zealand, walked into the dealership and sheepishly asked for Tom, she got exactly what she was promised.
Perhaps she was going to look at a car that day anyway and figured it couldn’t hurt to take the news paper clipping with her, I bet she’s glad she did.
Credit to BMW for some slick marketing on this one, I bet a few people who passed the ad off as a joke and now kicking themselves, really hard.
