Following rumours about the sequel Take-Two has officially confirmed that Borderlands 2 is in development for the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The game should be released sometime between April 2012 and spring 2013. The game will be developed by Gearbox Software, the same company who created the first game.
Publisher 2K games said in an official statement:
Combining invention and evolution, Borderlands 2 features all-new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment, which come together in an ambitiously crafted story, Players will reveal secrets, and escalate mysteries of the [I]Borderlands universe as they adventure across the unexplored new areas of Pandora.[/I]
According to the official Xbox magazine, the AI will be much better as enemies will be smarter as well as more diverse environments. Borderlands 2 will keep the same cell-shaded art style as the previous game and include new weapons, equipment and enemies.
According to Take-Two the game will be on display at Gamescom 2011 in Germany from August 17th to August 21st and then again at PAX Prime in Seattle from August 26th to August 28th. Borderlands 2 will have a front page feature in the September GameInformer magazine.
