Borderlands 2 Xbox 360 and PC Review

Just like everything else since the original title, the interface of Borderlands 2 has seen some massive overhauls. Now your menus take place on a nice vertical tab interface that allows you to flick through the various pages of map, weapons  stats, skills and more.

This come with a few pros and cons though, as with the original Borderlands it was possible to use the right stick to move around the menu screen in split screen to allow you to see everything. A nice feature given that all the information wouldn’t fit on the half screen. Now while you can see more information in Borderlands 2 while in split screen you can no longer scroll the window and it can get a little tricky to see some of your weapon stats and can get a little confusing. It’s a case of patching one problem and it creating another. Fortunately over all though the menu system is a massive improvement.

Stat tracking is also a lot better in Borderlands 2, keeping track of near anything you do, shoot, kill, use, loot, discover and rewarding you for your efforts with a new system called “badass rank” which you can then use for overall performance boosts on your profile, such as 1 point can be turned into +1% damage.

These bonuses carry across to all your characters and not just this playthrough. Furthermore the badass rank is unlimited, meaning you can rank up what equates to a high score of awesomeness throughout your Borderlands 2 experience. If you’re a PC player, you will be happy to know that Gearbox have gone all out to make the interface fully pc compatible this time around, after the somewhat shocking menu system in the original PC port or Borderlands 1 upset a lot of gamers. The developers have really listened to the fans on this one and given us a fully PC compatible interface with keyboard and mouse support.
