Borderlands 3 Benchmarked! [15 Graphics Cards Tested]

PC Performance Benchmarks

Borderlands 3 is available on PC too, so it would be crazy for us not to fire up our GPU test bench, right? Well, we did! We’ve got a stack of GPUs here too. So, with our i9-9900K at the heart, it’s obviously well above the minimum and recommended specifications. However, what about the graphics card? We’ve got everything from the GTX 1650 to the RTX 2080 TI from Nvidia. Of course, we’ve also got the latest AMD Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT cards too!

1080p

For 1080p, pretty much anything works rather well at high settings, expect the budget GTX 1650. However, dropping down to medium would soon fix that up. Obviously, the flagship cards cruised through this one.

1440p

Again, pretty easy work for all but the most affordable cards. The RX 5700 providing a solid entry for 60 FPS and above too.

2160p

4K really was more demanding than we expected. However, I suspect a performance patch and driver updates will see this number VASTLY improved in the coming weeks. Dropping a few settings to medium soon fixes this up, but we kept at high settings as per our usual testing regime.

DX12

We pretty much abandoned this test rather quickly. DX12 has been confirmed quite extensively to have issues for Borderlands 3. As you can see, it worked great at 4K, giving the RTX 2060 near 60 FPS! However, it made things even worse at lower resolutions. For now, our firm recommendation is to try DX12 and see, but otherwise, stick with DX11.
