Minimum
Borderlands 3 recommends that you have at least an AMD FX-8350 or Intel i5-3570 CPU as a minimum. However, any somewhat modern quad-core CPU should basically get the job done just fine. This will need to be backed out with at least an AMD HD 7970 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 680. Their modern budget-friendly equivalents would be the lower end of the RX5xx series or the GTX 10xx series.
Recommended
However, for the recommended specifications, you’ll want at least a Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i7-4770. Not sure why they say an i7 when I’m sure an i5 would be just fine, but whatever. This will also need to be backed up with at least the AMD Radeon RX 590 or Nvidia GTX 1060.
Beyond
For 1440p, 4K, and higher frame rate gaming, you’ll obviously need something pretty decent. Basically anything from the top end of the GTX 16xx series, or AMD Radeon RX 5700 series. For the extreme end, you’ll be looking at the Radeon VII or Nvidia RTX series.
Patches and Updates
The game has been with us for almost a month now. That means that Gearbox has released a few patches and hotfixes addressing some of the issues we covered in our original feature. You can view the updates on the links below. I would detail them here, but they’re overall pretty extensive lists. However, they address things like gameplay balance, drops, and performance issues.
- Update on September 19th – Changelog
- Update on September 26th – Changelog
- Hotfix on September 27th – Changelog
Performance Optimisation
While it’s a little out of date right now, many of the existing issues can be mitigated with a few settings tweaks. Some of them are detailed in the official troubleshooting guide which you can read here.
