The studio behind the Borderlands series, Gearbox Entertainment is reportedly going up for sale from Parent Group Embracer just a few weeks after the company shut down Saints Row developers Volition.
Embracer To Sell Gearbox
As reported by PCGamer, Embracer group may be looking to sell Gearbox Entertainment to which is expected to help recoup the costs of a $2 Billion deal that fell through back in May with an unamed company. Embracer Group originally acquired Gearbox in 2021 and only two years later is looking to sell the company, and fortunately not closing the company. Gearbox was acquired for $1.3 billion and Embracer likely hopes to resell for that value to another developer who can hopefully keep the Borderlands series rolling on.
