How Much Does it Cost?

The Boulies NUBI series chairs are available now from boulies.co.uk with prices starting from £269.99 for the NUBI and £279.99 for the NUBI Lite. I tested the NUBI, but the Lite has an even more compact design and lower-cut backrest design and will be well suited to even tighter workspaces. Overview

I’m impressed with this chair, and while I’m certainly not ignorant to the issues with pretty much all modern gaming chair designs, I have to admit that I am still quite fond of them. My daily chair brand for many years has been noblechairs, and at £400+ for the ones I use, they’re certainly not cheap. However, they’ve typically been hard-wearing, and helped my sciatica with their rather firm and oversized chair designs, it works for me.

However, sitting in this much smaller, much more affordable, and much more forgiving Boulies, I am honestly staggered by how different the experience is, but also by how similar it is. The chairs are medium-firm, as you would expect from a good office chair that has to suffer long hours of usage each day, but also remain supportive for years to come. So while it’s softer than what I’m used to, it still feels perfectly supportive, but doesn’t make my bum go numb after a long day at my desk, and my SO has been using the chair for weeks now in her office and is also reporting significant improvements in the health of her back and no leg discomfort that she got from her previous chair (The Corsair T3 Rush).

It may be smaller, but it is also bigger than it looks. Many gaming chairs have wings on the backrest and on the seat base. This means the actual flat surface area you sit on is often smaller than the Boulies despite the Boulies having a smaller back and base overall.

Furthermore, the way the Boulies Nubi moves and adjusts makes it much more supportive. Most gaming chairs have a tilt to angle the whole chair, and a tilt to adjust the backrest independent of the seat base. With the Boulies, the two parts move with each other too, allowing you to adjust the angle of the chair and back, but also the seat base forwards and back. This means you can push back to get some recline, pushing your bum forward to slide the base forward so you’re slouching, but instead of sliding over the chair, the chair flows with you and never lets up its support for your back and legs… it just feels so much more natural this way.

Anyone who has sat in it, from the kids and friends has immediately given some variation of “wow, this is comfortable” and I can’t really say fairer than that.

Should I Buy One?

It’s a good quality chair, it’s extremely comfortable, and while it’s light and compact, it somehow feels robust and way bigger, and it’s clear that Boulies have really put in some considerable effort to do something that is both different, but also feels very natural. I can’t recommend this chair enough. Now, I may just need to get myself one too!
