GUI – Advanced Settings
We’ve reached the second section with the Advanced Settings. This part covers the QoS, security, port trunking, mirroring, and loop prevention along with IGMP and traffic control.
QoS – QoS Settings
The QoS priority can be set by three definitions: DSCP, CoS, and IP precedence and the scheduling method can be changed from WRR to Strict
QoS – QoS Mapping
The QOS mapping can then be done and defined by the port number. Each port can have their own level, making no two share the same priority.
QoS – VoIP Auto Priority
Most offices utilise VoIP these days, and the BS-MP2008 supports auto prioritising of such calls. While there’s a lot of bandwidth available through a 10GbE switch, other apps can hog that just as well as they can on 1GbE solutions.
Security – Auto DoS Configuration
The security section only features the Denial of Service protection. The switch comes with protections against LAND, TCP header size, L4 port, ICMP, and TCP flag attacks.
Port Trunking
There will be more than a few who will want to link up ports using this kind of switch. Trunking ports will allow for failover protection and increased bandwidth throughput.
Traffic Control
The traffic possibilities can be controlled here. There isn’t much more to say here.
Mirroring
You can also mirror ports when you need that.
IGMP – Status
The Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) is a communications protocol used by hosts and adjacent routers on IPv4 networks to establish multicast group memberships. IGMP is an integral part of IP multicast and can allow for more efficient use of the resources.
IGMP – IGMP Settings
You can enable or disable the feature and define the timings.
IGMP – IGMP Querier
When there is no multicast router in the VLAN to originate the queries, you must configure an IGMP snooping querier to send membership queries. When an IGMP querier is enabled, it sends out periodic IGMP queries that trigger IGMP report messages from hosts that want to receive IP multicast traffic.
IGMP – IGMP Router Port
The last page allows you to set the IGMP router’s physical port and VLAN.
Loop Prevention
The last of the Advanced settings is for the loop prevention. The function in itself explains what it is.
