Bugatti Unveils $39,000 Bicycle

Bugatti has become famous as a luxury sports car maker, but now the Italian company has partnered with PG to translate its refined design and unrivalled build quality to the humble bicycle. The Bugatti PG is a lightweight, carbon fibre urban pedal bike which is set to prove both expensive and rare: only 667 of the bikes will ever be made, and each will cost $39,000.

“PG is building a high-tech bike,” the company says on its website. “Weighing less than five kilograms, it is to be the lightest special urban bike in the world. Expertise in development by PG, handcrafted production by Kussmaul, Bugatti’s distinctive design and reputation.”

The Bugatti PG boasts the following features:

CFP: CUSTOMIZED FINISHING PREFERENCES

  • Upon request, customers of the supercar builder can have their bicycles matched to their own Bugattis. Special paints, carbon in various colours, numerous types of leather and, of course, the Bugatti pearl oval make the Bugatti bike the perfect supplement for the 1,500 PS dream car.

RCF: REINFORCED CARBON FRAME

  • All frame cross sections are oversized to ensure maximum rigidity.

VSAB: VERTICAL SHOCK ABSORPTION BAR

  • The handlebars are equipped with shock absorbers to substantially improve comfort.

HTFP: HIGH TENSIBLE FIBRE PERFORMANCE

  • All carbon components of high-strength fibre.

AAOC: ALL AERO OPTIMIZED CROSS SECTIONS

  • All frame cross sections have been optimised for the aerodynamic demands of high speeds.

P3: PREPREG PERFORMANCE PROCESS

  • All carbon components are handcrafted using prepreg materials and methods otherwise found only in the motor sport and aeronautic industries in order to guarantee the lightest weight and highest rigidity possible.

MIG: MADE IN GERMANY

  • All parts are manufactured and processed in Germany.

CARBON COMPONENTS OF HIGH-STRENGTH CARBON FIBRE

  • Frame, fork, rims, handlebar, seat, seat post, crank and brake are made of the highest quality carbon fibre available in today’s market.

Bugatti and PG don’t advise you showing off your new bike around town, though. The companies caveat the bikes listing with: “The special bike is a piece of sports equipment which is not intended to be used on public roads.”
