Cablemod are most prominent name in the custom cable market for gaming PCs, naturally, they also offer an adapter for the controversial 12VHPWR connector to help alleviate the burning issues. Recently Cablemod has announced a new revision of this adapter that uses the new CEM 5.1/12V-2×6 revised PCI-SIG connection to enhance this adapter and remedy some of its issues.
The new adapter from Cablemod dubbed V1.1 was recently announced on their Twitter page (Via VideoCardz) and is now available to purchase. This new connector uses the PCI-SIG CEM 5.1 standard which features shortened sense pins and should have a major reduction of the melting issues the 12VHPWR connector faced. Unfortunately for Cablemod, their original adapter wasn’t innocent and was also met with several issues with burning and melting which this new revision should hopefully remedy. Alongside the adoption of the CEM 5.1 standard, the adapter features improved tightness and the wiggle between the PCB and male connector has been resolved.
These new V1.1 adapters from Cablemod are available at Cablemod.com in a variety of colours for $39.90, additionally those who bought the V1 version through the official site are entitled to a $40 coupon for the new version which can be attained by filling out this form on their website.
