An image of Xbox One cover art for Call of Duty World at War II has emerged online. The box art is alleged to come from an Amazon listing for the product (which no one has yet been able to find) so it is difficult to validate the authenticity of it, it could quite possibly be a hoax. The faint small-print reads “Official Cover Art Subject To Change”. Given that Treyarch are not currently working on any Call of Duty title, as Sledgehammer Games are working on the next-gen Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare title, it makes the likelihood of Treyarch working on this new title higher. I think it is quite possible Treyarch are working on Call of Duty World At War II given the rate at which Activision churn out the Call of Duty titles. However, given that Black Ops was supposed to follow the World at War “stream” of Call of Duty games is it possible we will get a new title in that stream? Who knows… The other stream is of course the modern/advanced warfare stream. Call of Duty World at War (1), or Call of Duty 5, was a surprisingly popular game so a sequel would almost definitely be welcomed by CoD fans. However, if Treyarch end up butchering the sequel like IW did to the sequel for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare then I doubt it will gain them much credit, at least not with PC Gamers.
