Capcom recently released a demo for their upcoming horror game, Resident Evil 7, to match the announcement of the title at this year’s E3. Reception to the game’s departure from the typical Resident Evil formula has been criticized, but beyond that, it looks to be shaping up to be the game that PT/Silent Hills could have been had it not met an early demise. Unlike many demos, this one is not short of content and shockingly, after 2 days of hands-on with the demo, no one online has been able to figure out how to get the game’s true ending.
This isn’t for lack of trying, with threads on the topic spanning almost 60 pages on the Neogaf forums and Reddit also containing an extensive demo help thread, aggregating as much of the known info on the demo as possible. Possibly loving the attention this is bringing to the game, Capcom has kept any clues close to their chest save that a dummy finger item has a purpose. Not to mention that in an interview with the demo’s developers, Youtuber Jesse Cox was told that the demo alone had 4-5 different endings. Fans need not worry about the secrets they discover in the demo ruining the full game experience either, with the demo taking place outside of the events of the main game.
It is unusual that it would take the collective effort of fans on the internet so long to discover everything in a demo, let alone a full game and it makes me hopeful for just how much hidden story and lore will be in the final game. So, are you up to the challenge of uncovering all the secrets that the Resident Evil 7 demo is yet to reveal? If so, better boot up your PS4 and download the demo now!
