Halo: MCC

The Master Chief’s iconic journey includes six games, built for PC and collected in a single integrated experience. Whether you’re a long-time fan or meeting Spartan 117 for the first time, The Master Chief Collection is the definitive Halo gaming experience.

Available on Steam.

Halo has native support for both 5K2K resolutions as well as the 32:9 Super-Ultrawide format and has a built-in FOV slider too so you can really max out the format. I set the game to its ultra-profile but this resulted in around 150-170 FPS, which is plenty, but we can do better!

Turning off Ray Tracing only saw the FPS increase to 195, a nice gain, but what does it take to max out that full refresh rate?

Dropping the scaling to 70% and dropping settings to “High” actually looked pretty great. I applied a slight sharpening in GeForce Experience and the result was surprisingly close to native resolution.

And there was the magic number, even in an outdoor setting with many players on screen, I hit 240Hz+ pretty consistently.
