It’s only been a week since I published my review of the truly astonishing Philips Evnia 49″ 5120×1440 240Hz QD-OLED HDR Ultrawide Gaming Monitor Review. It’s certainly not a monitor for the faint of heart, with its enormous price tag, and absurd size. It’s big, it’s heavy, and its specifications list is truly eye-watering. However, while using it, I couldn’t help but notice that none of the games I was playing were using everything it had to offer. With a 32:9 Super Ultrawide aspect ratio and a resolution of 5120 x 1440, it’s the same as running two 2560×1440 monitors side by side as a single display, and if that doesn’t sound demanding enough, it’s also running at a staggering 240Hz. Pixels to refresh rate equivalents, it’s broadly similar to trying to game at 8K @ 60Hz.
