Classic 2D sidescroller Mega Man is going to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with Mega Man 11, coming in late 2018. The game puts the character back in his classic blue bomber costume, in a classic hand-drawn sidescroller adventure. CAPCOM even included some gameplay video for the launch trailer showing it off. Mega Man is one of the biggest game franchises to come from the Nintendo era back in 1987. It has since spawned several dozen games but remains beloved by fans.
The graphics is in 2D although it is using 3D rendered elements. The cell shading style makes it cartoony and fitting of the mood. Aside from Mega Man it appears that his robotic dog pal Rush from Mega Man 3 will assist in his adventure. Veteran game producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya and director KoJi Oda are working on the title, to make it authentically like the original despite using modern graphics. The music for the new game is also distinctly very of-the-era, which is great news for hardcore fans since many of the themes from older games still hold up very well.
The good news does not stop there. All eight games in the spinoff Mega Man X series are also heading for all consoles. That includes PS4, Xbox one, and the Nintendo Switch. Of course, PC users will be able to get it as well. Moreover, Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2 are coming to the Nintendo Switch for 2018. This is perfect as many Switch owners are older users who are fond of these classic games.
