Given that the Resident Evil 3 remake was released over two years ago, you would’ve been forgiven for thinking that Capcom was probably (by and large) done with the game at this point. And if they were finished with that title, then the chances of the even older Resident Evil 2 remake and Resident Evil 7 getting an update seemed even more diminished.
Following various posts on Steam, however, Capcom has surprisingly released new patches for all three titles which, we suspect, will likely form their last bug-fixing updates as they all get set to be put out to pasture!
Now, before you go getting all excited, there’s nothing particularly ‘new’ going on here. So don’t go rushing back to install them expecting to find some unexpected new content. In terms of development, Capcom is very much finished with all three of these games!
So, what are the patches for then? Well, essentially, they seem to represent a final bug-hunting update that, all going well, should resolve most of the more notable problems still lurking in the games.
While seeing a trio of updates is certainly both appreciated and unexpected, there might be something else at play here. It is, for example, well-rumoured that Capcom has been planning a major update to all three titles on PC to bring them more in line with their console counterparts. Whether this is true or not, however, remains to be seen.
For the moment though, at least your RE2, RE3, and RE7 experiences should be a little more polished. Well, presuming you’re playing any of them anymore!
