We are just a little over a month away from the release of the Resident Evil 2 remake. Yes, it’s been a long agonising wait, but it’s nearly here. In fairness to Capcom, since officially announcing the game just before E3 2018, they have treated us to a lot of screenshots and news surrounding the game. It isn’t, however, like we needed much to get up hyped for this.
Some of the content released has included comparative screenshots which have, if nothing else, given us a good idea just how impressive the scope of this remake has been. Following a post on their Twitter account though, Capcom has officially released a video showcasing both games running in direct comparison.
With the remake utilising their RE Engine (previously seen in their Resident Evil 7 release) there are clearly differences between the two. Obviously in the graphical quality, but also the change from the ‘fixed-camera’ to the ‘over the shoulder’ view. The video does, however, highlight that Capcom is very much keeping the original ‘RE2’ in their hearts with this remake.
The Resident Evil 2 remake will release for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC on January 25th. Despite it coming so early in the year, this is already looking to be a pretty solid ‘game of the year’ contender for 2019. Sadly, it doesn’t look like we’re going to get a demo that was rumoured for about this time. I don’t mind though, just (roughly) a month to go!
