CaseLabs Announces Magnum SMA8 A Revision Case

High-end case US-based manufacturer CaseLabs has a new revision for their MAGNUM SMA8 case in the works. It upgrades several features for the case, making system building easier and adds support for several components that were not available before.

MAGNUM SMA8 A Revision Features

The large case will have a new IO panel which includes USB 3.1 Type C support, HDMI, USB 3.0 and HD audio. HDMI is important since most systems that go inside a CaseLabs case is VR-ready. A lot of the high-end video cards also have front pass-through for HDMI so this makes it easier for users to connect their VR gear.

Another distinct difference is the inclusion of a luminous mid-plate panel. Modders are familiar with this feature pioneered by Charles Harwood of Xforma. In fact, CaseLabs credits Harwood for designing the plate that goes on the SMA8 A. There are also case lighting support rails included now inside the case. Which makes it easier to integrate and fully kit out the system with LEDs.

Since the large chassis is ideal for showcase builds, many of the new changes also incorporate improved cabling and tube routing options. More tie-downs are available, although hidden from the motherboard chamber. There are even new aluminium cable management clamps. This results in a much cleaner build and easy to manage cables.

For liquid cooling enthusiasts, there is a new extra tall double wide reservoir mount. The bottom radiator mount now also installs from the outside, making the installation much easier than before. Users can fit a 560 mount here by default, although there are also 480 adapter rails included. The new SMA8 A revision also adds two more 3.5-inch HDD mounts inside. This can convert to 4x 2.5-inch drives instead if preferred.

These are just some of the features announced. CaseLabs actually promises that there are more closer to the actual release date of the case. Launch colors are not confirmed yet, but CaseLabs says that they will eventually offer it in a white version. ETA for launch is early December 2017.
