CD Projekt Red: “No Bullshit…We Leave Greed to Others”

With the gaming climate like it is today, fans were a bit rattled when CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski said they are “interested in Cyberpunk (2077) being commercially more significant” in an interview with Strefa Inwestorow. Some fans took this to mean they are going to be much more aggressive with monetization. Kicinski even stated “Online is very necessary, or very recommended if you wish to achieve long-term success.” Fans of their Witcher series love the game for its single player, open-world story-driven nature. They are also expecting Cyberpunk 2077 to follow suit. Which is why the other comment is surprising.

CD Projekt Red Statement via Twitter

However, taking to Twitter to clear things up. CD Projekt Red reaffirms their commitment remains. Telling fans to “worry not” when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077. Adding that they should “think nothing less than TW3 (The Witcher 3)”. There will be assuredly no hidden catch and fans will get what they pay for. Succinctly punctuated by “no bullshit” and a parting shot of “we leave greed to others”.

It is obvious that the last comment is aimed at EA with their current PR issues centered from Star Wars Battlefront II. It is not just the fans that do not see EA in a good light. Regulatory gaming commissions of some countries have also begun looking into their post-launch monetization schemes.

There is no set released date for Cyberpunk 2077 yet. It will be their biggest game and it is unlikely to be out by 2018.
