CD Projekt RED, creators of the critically acclaimed RPGs The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, announced today the opening of a new studio in Cracow, Poland. The new studio will bolster the development of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077.
“A new studio, new people and new energy – we’re growing and we’re extremely excited that we can tap into the potential that Cracow has to offer. We want to continue to make better and better RPGs and the new studio is another big step in that direction. Cracow, one of the cultural and scientific centers of Europe, is a really special place that will leave a significant mark on our games.” said Adam Badowski, Head of CD Projekt RED.
The main CD Projekt RED development studio was established in 2002 and based in Warsaw and Cracow, Poland. Creators of The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Both RPGs were praised by critics and fans, gathering over 200 awards and selling over 5 million copies to date.
Originally a PC developer, CD Projekt RED has released The Witcher on Mac and The Witcher 2 both on the Xbox 360 and Mac. The studio is now working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the grand finale of the Geralt of Rivia saga as the studio has plans to move onto a new title once this game is complete.
The game will be released in 2014 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The developer is also working on Cyberpunk 2077 in collaboration with Mike Pondsmith, the original designer of the pen-and-paper Cyberpunk futuristic RPG system in which the upcoming game is set.
