CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher Series Goes Free-to-Play on Mobile

CD Project RED are going mobile as they prepare their Witcher franchise for a free-to-play online battle arena title designed for smartphones and tablets. With the gaming community currently eager for their RPG epic, The Witcher 3, to be released on consoles and PC there are a lot of fans (myself included) who are dying for more adventures from Geralt and his buddies.

The Witcher: Battle Arena follows in the footsteps of other MOBA titles such as League of Legends and DOTA 2, by pitting gamers against each other or bots in a fight to the death. There will be eight playable characters at launch – Zoltan Chivay, Letho of Hulet, Eithne of Brokilon, Golem, Saskia of Aedirn, Philippa Eilhard, The Operator and Lorveth.

CD Project RED are a shining light in the developer community, harking at those who extort money through DLC and other shovelled in extras and their mobile game is a beacon of their awesomeness as it’s what they call free-to-play done the right way.

“Everything in the game is unlockable for free, just by playing the game. Our system is honest, well balanced and doesn’t keep you playing for ages to unlock something. If you want to get something unlocked faster, you can purchase it for a reasonable price. It’s that simple.”

The game will launch in the very near future, months before the official release of the Witcher 3.
